My name is Celia and I design the world of Moss and Piglets. I’ve been creating in various ways for as long as I can remember and finally decided to give this a real effort over the past year. My mythical microbe series is hand-drawn with Copic markers and my stickers are drawn using Procreate. Reach out with any questions, I love talking about art!

Tardigrades are also known as water bears and moss piglets! They are well-loved micro-animals that come in at just around 1 MM in length. One of the coolest things about these little animals is that they are nearly indestructible. They’ve survived space, microwaves, freezing, quantum leaps (!!), and nearly everything else we’ve thrown at them.

They are the picture of resiliency.

I started drawing tardigrades in 2020 when I had an idea for a children’s book. The more I researched these small animals, the more obsessed I became. That fixation led me down a rabbit hole that I’ve yet to be able to escape, though it has expanded to other microfauna, microbes, insects, and generally “smol” buds I just can’t get enough of.

Nope. My art is purely inspired by the world of microbiology, but I’m not a scientist myself. Hats off to all the scientists out there though — I love y’all.
